Breastfeeding a Surrogate Baby

by January Harshe on August 3, 2012

Alison sent me this beautiful picture of her nursing her surrogate baby she birthed for a couple.

She says, “This photo was taken when my third surrogate son was 2 days old. His daddies asked that I nurse him while we were in the hospital together. I now exclusively pump and ship my milk to him.”

She is an amazing, giving, dedicated soul. Thank you for sharing with the BWF Community Alison!

I have always been curious about this! What a gift: to be a surrogate and give life then to be able to continue to nourish that life. What a blessing!

I love this! I only nursed my first surrogate baby but I pumped and shipped milk for all four of them.

Wow. This brings me to tears. Part of me wants to be a surrogate and I think in this context I could do it if I could nurse and pump milk for the baby afterward. <3 My partner doesn't like to have to put up with me when I'm pregnant though it seems unlikely I'll get ever to to do.

Wow, this is amazing. I have recently thought more and more about being a surrogate if the right couple presented themselves. I love being pregnant and giving birth and would love to give this gift to somebody else.

Beautiful! I don’t hear many stories about surrogacy. I would have done it in my younger years for my sister. I am impressed with the other mothers’ comments. Such an amazing gift to give someone!

This is incredible. What a gift to give them a child & sustain that sweet child with milk.

So awesome.
