CBAC Video, Cesarean Birth After Cesarean

I received this email from Cari. It is another testament to me how supportive BWF has been to women who have experienced all types of births. I am grateful women feel supported and experience healing through the knowledge and support given via BWF. ~January

“This is the CBAC of my second son Avery. You played a crucial role in my emotional recovery, whether you know it of not. I want to vba2c someday. This was part of my journey to heal, making this video. If you want to share it, please do. This c-section didn’t destroy me like my first. Maybe because I got to labor for so long? Anyway, thank you. I can’t say that enough. When I am planning my next birth, I know I can count on this page to give me strength.”

Her CBAC…

“I had a c-section in December of 2007. After that, I became a birth doula and got informed about birth. I planned a home birth for my next pregnancy. After 67 hours, we transferred to a baby friendly hospital and had a family centered cesarean. He was born January 16, 2011 at 12:16am. 8lbs 11oz of perfection. It wasn’t what we planned for, but it was beautiful nonetheless. I plan on going for a vba2c my next time around. I couldn’t have made it through my labor without my partner. He was and is my rock. The pictures were taken by my amazing doula.”

That was beautiful, and I love the choice of Ingrid Michaelson’s music. 🙂 Congratulations to the sweet family.

Wow! Our stories are soooo similar! I had my first son in July 2007. I had planned a homebirth, but was transferred to a hospital where he was born via c-section. I was emotionally destroyed by this c-section. Then we got pregnant with number two. We planned a VBAC at a birth facility in Colorado with great stats and on VBACs. The midwives were VERY supportive. I live in Wyoming and drive 4.5 hours every month for my prenatals. I was determined to VBAC. But, on January 18, 2012 my second son was born via c-section. I was (still am) really, really sad about the c-section, but, as with you, I was not destroyed like I was with my first. The second c-section was much more family-centered and as many of my requests were granted as were possible.

What a beautiful video! The tears I am crying are tears of joy and sadness all wrapped into one. Thank you for sharing!!
