Mama Catches Her Own Baby…

This BIRTH WITHOUT FEAR Mama shared this raw birth picture of her catching her own baby! Yes, that is blood. THIS IS BIRTH!

“Hudson was born at home in the water on February 9, 2010 at 11:15 p.m. My husband and two good friends were with me. Our two year old son was tucked in sound asleep. I hired a traditional birth attendant, but she didn’t make it on time. I felt amazing and still ride the high of birth scanning the amazing pictures my friends took.” ~Amanda

I also have had two water births and have caught my babies both times, is that not the way it was meant to be? I feel very glad for those of us who’s lives are enriched by this most empowering experience and sad for all those out there left to process birth trauma due to necessary intervention.
Congratulations Mama may the ripples of this pond reach far and wide.

I’m planning a homebirth but not in water and I so want to be the one to catch my baby. It just feels right to be the person to first touch my baby as it exits my body.

I had a home water birth with my first baby last April, attended by 3 wonderful midwives, one of whom is a dear friend. All 3 of them respected my birth wishes and I was left to receive my own sweet baby into my arms. His cord was wrapped around his neck and so they skillfully intervened to release it before once again backing off and letting us enjoy that most special time xxx
